Mais informações

In recent years, Iberian Studies have experienced a rapid consolidation as a distinct field of inquiry, both inside and outside the Iberian Peninsula, in Europe at large and in the United States. Leading research in Iberian literatures, arts and cultures has shown the importance of a comparative approach capable of painting a more comprehensive portrait of the multiple-layered dynamics underlying peninsular cultural production. Additionally, the critical revision of traditional Hispanic and Portuguese Studies, which has accompanied the emergence of Iberian Studies, has opened new perspectives on historical and contemporary cultural phenomena. It is therefore timely to assess the “state of the field” of Iberian Studies, analyzing its theoretical and methodological foundations, and identifying paths only recently explored, as well as those yet to be adequately explored.

The International Journal of Iberian Studies is issuing a Call for Papers for a Special Themed Issue on Iberian Studies: New Spaces of Inquiry, guest edited by Ângela Fernandes (Universidade de Lisboa), Robert Patrick Newcomb (UC Davis) and Santiago Pérez Isasi (Universidade de Lisboa).

We welcome articles from a variety of theoretical and empirical perspectives on or closely related to the following themes:

  • Theoretical and methodological tools for Iberian Studies
  • Social and political contexts of Iberian artistic and cultural dynamics
  • The complex relations between space and culture in the Iberian context
  • Iberian cultures and their Atlantic / Imperial connections
  • Topics and themes that circulate across Iberian arts
  • Translation and re-writing in Iberian literatures and cinema
  • Digital Humanities and Iberian Studies

Submissions should be between 7,000 and 8,000 words.
Please consult the Journal´s Notes for Authors: www.iberianstudies.net/ijis/ijisnotes.html
