Call for Papers
“Cross Travelling - Mobility and Transferences”
The University of Lisbon – CEC, together with the University of Madeira and in collaboration with Dedalus – the Journal of the Portuguese Comparative Literature Association – are now soliciting submissions for the International Conference on “Cross Travelling - Mobility and Transferences” to be held on September, 23rd-25th 2010, at the University of Madeira. Papers reflecting diverse theoretical perspectives and both quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches are encouraged. Topic areas are broadly defined as, but not limited, to the following:
- Travel and Travel Writing
- Travel and Utopia
- Travel and Orientalism
- Interdisciplinary Transferences
- Interlinguistic Transferences
- Colonialism and Pos-Colonialism
- Hybridism, Métissage and Creolization
- Cultural and Political Tourism
The Organizing Committee calls for proposals to be handed in by March 15th 2010. Proposals are possible as paper presentations (20 minutes each) or panel proposals (moderated with 3-5 panelists). Abstracts for paper presentations (15-20 lines) or panel proposals (25-30 lines) are welcome and should be sent together with a short biographical note. Please be aware that the full title of your paper is required. Authors will be notified of acceptance until April 18th 2010. When notice is given of acceptance, participants will receive information on methods of payment, travel and accommodation. Final texts should be sent by the end of December and authors will be informed until the end of February 2010 of the consideration of being published in the issues of Dedalus, the PCLA Journal.
