Portuguese version

The sea, a movement within immobility. Equilibrium as order of the world. Image of primal matter.

Simone Weil

The International Conference “Movement as Immobility - A Conference on Film and Christianity” is an event organized by the research project “Cinema and the World – Studies on Space and Cinema”, to be held at the Centre for Comparative Studies in the University of Lisbon School of Arts and Humanities, Lisbon, Portugal, on the 24th and 25th of November 2017. This conference aims at examining the connections between film and Christianity focusing on such aesthetic aspects that, while not rejecting film representations of religious subjects, gives primacy to film style and film experience, throughout the twentieth century.
