Biographical Note:

Ana Isabel Moniz (Ph.D, Univ. of Madeira, 2003) is assistant professor of Portuguese and French Studies (Univ. of Madeira) and director of the MA course in Linguistic and Cultural Studies. Ana Isabel Moniz is the author of Julien Gracq: formas sentidos e mecanismos do imaginário (Lisbon, 2010), as well as the co-editor of two volumes: Funchal (d)Escrito. Ensaios sobre representações literárias da Cidade (Vila Nova de Gaia, 2011), with Ana Margarida Falcão, Leonor Martins Coelho and Thierry Proença dos Santos, and E depois? – sobre a cultura na Madeira, with Diana Pimentel and Thierry Proença Santos (Funchal, year 2005). She is also reviewer of the journal entitled Revista Agália and subdirector of the journal Carnets (APEF). Her research interests lie mainly in the area of Portuguese and French Contemporary Fiction.
