Biographical Note:

Luísa Afonso Soares completed her PhD in 1998, University of Lisbon, in German Literature with a dissertation on J. M. R. Lenz. She is Assistant Professor of Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of Lisbon (School of Arts and Humanities), at undergraduate and graduate level. Her teaching and research interests include the 18th and 20th century literature and culture, intermedial studies, memory studies as well as identity and gender studies. She has published articles on these areas. She is a member of the Centre for Comparative Studies, where she works on the project Aesthetics of Memory and Emotions. Since 2010 she is the Director of the Master Program Cultura e Sociedade na Europa (School of Arts and Humanities - FLUL).
