GOING CARIBBEAN AND BEYOND aims to explore connections between, on the one hand, Caribbean culture, going beyond the study of the different “Caribbeans” which traditionally are approached by language or nationality, and Cape-Verdean culture. Therefore, we will focus on narratives from both from the islands and diaspora, and put special emphasis on four thematic axes: 1) Cultural and national Identity from a comparative, transnational perspective 2) Creoliza(c)tions: theoretical reflection on creolisation as an “archipelic” way of thinking about cultural identity globalization? 3) (M)other tongues: the relationship between Gender and language 4) Trans-Caribbean: Cultural and linguistic translation issues.
