Le XVIIIème congrès de l'Association Internationale de Littérature Comparée s'est déroulé en août 2007 à Rio de Janeiro. De même que lors de tous les congrès précédents, ce dernier a représenté une occasion particulière d'échange spirituel pour les comparatistes et pour les institutions comparatistes. Je ressens comme un honneur, mais aussi comme une tâche à grande responsabilité, le fait de pouvoir maintenant travailler en tant que président pour notre association. Mes prédécesseurs, M. Jean Bessière (Paris), Mme Tania Carvalhal (Porto Alegre, Brésil, décédée en 2006) et Mme Dorothy Figueira (Athens, Georgia, Etats-Unis), ont déjà, de par leur engagement, contribué à d'importantes avancées, dont je souhaiterais poursuivre le tracé. Les suggestions de tous les comparatistes seront les bienvenues. L'AILC/ICLA est intéressée par toute information professionnelle, par toute proposition constructive. Les personnes à contacter dans ce cas sont indiquées sur ce site.
Le lieu de rencontre pour le prochain congrès international (2010) sera Daegu en Corée. Etant donné que certaines difficultés logistiques avaient fait aboutir à un retard dans la détermination du lieu du congrès, la programmation plus exacte du congrès par les Coréens nécessitera encore un laps de temps de quelques mois. Mais je suis convaincu que nos préoccupations scientifiques en tant que comparatistes continueront d'être, de par ce congrès à venir et de par les activités au niveau national, mises en avant. En outre, le profil particulier et la force d'action de l'AILC/ICLA apparaissent clairement au travers des recherches et colloques des nombreuses commissions de notre association.
Les responsables de l'AILC/ICLA s'efforcent de poursuivre l'amélioration de l'échange d'informations entre les membres. En ce qui concerne ce point, la différenciation plus exacte du site avec l'énumération des domaines d'action et des publications des comparatistes facilitera la communication.

Président AILC/ICLA 2007-2010
The XVIIIth congress of the International Comparative Literature Association took place in August 2007 in Rio de Janeiro. Like all the preceding congresses, this most recent represented a special occasion for intellectual exchanges by comparatists and by comparative institutions. I feel it an honor but also a task with great responsibility to be able to work now in the capacity of president of our association. My predecessors, Prof. Jean Bessière (Paris), Prof. Tania Carvalhal (Porto Alegre, Brazil, deceased in 2006), and Prof. Dorothy Figueira (Athens, Georgia, USA) have, throughout their presidential terms contributed to important advances whose course I would like to follow. Suggestions by all comparatists are most welcome. The AILC/ICLA is interested in all professional information, in all constructive proposals. The individuals to contact are indicated on the web site.
The meeting place for the next international congress will be Daegu, Korea. Since a number of logistic problems have led to a delay in determining the venue of the congress, the Koreans' detailed planning will still require a period of several months. But I am convinced that our scholarly concerns as comparatists will continue to be advanced throughout the coming congress and in all the national activities. Moreover, the specific character and the strength of the inititatives of the AILC/ICLA clearly appear in the research and colloquia of the numerous committees of our Association.
The officers of the AILC/ICLA will endeavor to further the improvement of the exchange of information among the members. As far as this point is concerned, the careful and precise layout of this web site with a listing of the various areas of activities and of publications of comparatists will facilitate communication.
